In 2007/8, the District Municipality of Muskoka with Muskoka-Parry Sound Community Health Service organized a service for mothers and families suffering from Postpartum Mood Disorder, the single most frequently occurring complication of pregnancy. If untreated it can lead to chronic depression, family disfunction, child developmental delays and, worst of all, suicide.The service focuses on community and professional education, support, assessment and counselling services for mothers and families. This free service also offers individual consultations and group counselling in Muskoka - Parry Sound.
